ISLAMABAD, Jul 08 (APP):In a significant move to accelerate digital inclusion and youth empowerment, the third special committee meeting of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Phase 4 convened today under the leadership of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
The high-level session brought together key federal ministers and officials to finalize preparations for the nationwide rollout of the scheme, aimed at equipping students with modern technological tools.
The meeting was co-chaired by Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood. Federal Minister for Public Affairs, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, also participated in the session.
The committee held a detailed review of regional application data and the allocation of quotas across provinces and territories. A key focus of the discussion was the development of a comprehensive media awareness campaign to ensure maximum outreach and transparency during the distribution process.
Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will lead the campaign in close coordination with relevant stakeholders. “The Ministry of Information will spearhead the media campaign for the Laptop Scheme to ensure it reaches every eligible student across the country,” he stated.
The minister further announced that the central inauguration ceremony of the Laptop Scheme Phase 4 will take place at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad, on July 25. Additional regional ceremonies will follow shortly thereafter.
Rana Mashhood, while addressing the meeting, emphasized the broader vision behind the initiative: “This scheme is part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to empower the youth through access to digital tools that can transform their future.”
Dr. Khalid Maqbool echoed the sentiment, saying, “Access to technology for our youth is not just a facility—it’s a fundamental pillar of national progress.”
The Laptop Scheme Phase 4 aims to bridge the digital divide by providing high-performing students with laptops to support their academic and professional growth. The initiative is a flagship component of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and reflects the government’s resolve to invest in Pakistan’s human capital.
