TASS elected chair of OANA

ISLAMABAD, Jun 29 (APP):Russian state-run news agency TASS has been unanimously elected chair of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) until 2028.
The voting took place at a plenary meeting of the 19th General Assembly of the Organization, which was held on 19 June in St. Petersburg Russia.
TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov has been elected OANA president for the duration of the chairmanship, while TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman will serve as the organization’s general secretary.
The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies is the world’s largest regional media organization, bringing together 41 news agencies from 33 countries. Its mission is to ensure a direct and free exchange of news between news agencies in the Asia-Pacific region.
TASS has a long history of cooperation with OANA, having joined the organization in 1981 and previously chairing it twice. The next OANA General Assembly is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in 2028, hosted by Azertac.

In second plenary meeting on 20th June, during the electing process of different committees, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) has been unanimously elected as Head of Ethics committee, whereas Deputy Director Diplomatic and Global Affairs Mudassar Iqbal, participated in the process from APP.
