Pakistan battles bravely, falls to Poland in FIVB Boys’ U19 World C’ship

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (APP): In one of the most gripping encounters of the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship 2025, the Pakistan volleyball team lost against European powerhouse Poland in the Round of 16 by 2-3 sets, with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 16-18 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The match, played at the packed arena in Tashkent, kept spectators on the edge of their seats as both teams traded blows in a contest that showcased world-class skill, determination, and resilience. Pakistan started strong by winning the first set 25-21 with powerful attacks and disciplined blocking. Poland fought back in the second set, narrowly edging Pakistan 25-23, said a press release.
With the match level at 1-1, Pakistan regained momentum to convincingly take the third set 25-17, driven by aggressive net play and precise serves. However, Poland refused to back down and responded with a 25-21 win in the fourth set. The deciding fifth set saw a nail-biting finish as both teams battled point-for-point, but it was Poland who narrowly claimed the set 18-16, bringing the match to a dramatic close.
While the result did not favor Pakistan, the young team won the admiration of volleyball fans worldwide for their fighting spirit, technical excellence, and composure under pressure.
Their run in this tournament has been historic—registering four consecutive victories in the group stage, topping Pool A, and qualifying for the Round of 16 for the first time in Pakistan’s volleyball history. Pakistan will now enter the classification round for final tournament rankings.
Chaudhary Muhammad Yaqoob, Chairman of Pakistan Volleyball Federation, commented, “Our boys played with great heart and determination against a top European side. This narrow defeat is heartbreaking but also a proud moment because it shows that Pakistan belongs among the volleyball elite. I congratulate the entire team and coaching staff on their exceptional performance throughout the tournament.”
