NRKNA hosts multi-religious session to promote interfaith harmony

ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (APP):Scholars and religious leaders at a multi-religious session hosted by the National Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority (NRKNA) on Friday, emphasized the need to counter religious misinterpretations and group ideologies that foster division.
They highlighted that the Seerah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) offers clear guidance in addressing these challenges.
The session brought together scholars and representatives from various religious traditions, including Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, the Bahai Faith, and the Kalash community. Additionally, postgraduate students and faculty members specializing in interfaith studies attended, contributing to a rich and diverse discussion.
Keynote addresses were delivered by Elena Dini, a communications specialist from Rome, Italy, and Dr. Abdul Basit Zafar, a comparative theology expert from Bonn, Germany.
Dini underscored the importance of fostering genuine interfaith dialogue rooted in mutual respect and understanding. She stressed that theological debates, when approached with openness, can bridge gaps and cultivate global unity. Commending NRKNA’s initiative, she lauded the platform as a vital space for constructive engagement across religious lines.
Dr. Zafar, in his thought-provoking address, highlighted the role of inner contemplation in achieving societal peace. He elaborated on how spiritual introspection fosters empathy, patience, and understandin – virtues essential for a harmonious society. He urged individuals to reflect on their values and practice them collectively for a peaceful coexistence.
Both speakers praised NRKNA’s commitment to interfaith dialogue, emphasizing the importance of institutional support in fostering religious harmony. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where scholars, students, and faith leaders explored contemporary theological debates, the role of religious institutions in peace-building, and practical measures to enhance interfaith cooperation.
In his closing remarks, NRKNA Chairman Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem expressed gratitude to the speakers and participants, reaffirming the authority’s mission to create spaces for intellectual discourse and interfaith collaboration.
The event marked another milestone in NRKNA’s ongoing efforts to promote dialogue, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among faith communities. NRKNA officials, including Director General Zafar Malik and Director Suhail Bin Aziz, also addressed the gathering, reiterating their commitment to fostering interfaith harmony in Pakistan.
