MPAs submit resolution for extension in Rangers powers

KARACHI, Dec 8 (APP)- Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s members of Sindh Assembly on Monday submitted a resolution with the assembly secretariat seeking immediate extension in special powers to the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) by a minimum four months.
PTI members of Sindh Assembly including Khurram Sher Zaman and Seema Zia through their resolution urged the provincial government to acknowledge the contribution made by the Rangers in restoration of law and order situation in the province, particularly Karachi.
Rangers were said to had been extremely successful in restoring normalcy in Karachi and also restoring public confidence, said PTI MPAs. Earlier, senior member of the Sindh cabinet Muhammad Nisar Khuhro talking to media following a program at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre said decision regarding extension in the special powers to the
Rangers will be made by the provincial assembly.”We need to extend a legal cover to the special powers granted to the Rangers a year ago through a system approved by the provincial assembly,” he said.
