KP cabinet approves KP Civil Administration (Public Service Delivery & Governance) Act 2019

PESHAWAR, Dec 24 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet with Chief Minister, Mahmood Khan in chair Tuesday approved for passage KP Civil Administration (Public Service Delivery & Governance) Act 2019 with recommending some amendments in the draft document.

“The Act aims at appointment of Additional Commissioner in subordination of Commissioner at Divisional level and Chief Minister can constitute committees for ensuring good governance, public service delivery, effective regulatory system, and for improvement of relations between public sector departments at Division, District and Tehsil Administration,” said Ajmal Khan Wazir, Spokesman for KP government and Advisor to Chief Minister on Merged Districts.

Addressing a press conference here at Cabinet room of Civil Secretariat, Ajmal Wazir said the KP Civil Administration Act 2019 will ensure provision of service delivery to masses at their door steps.

The cabinet also approved constitution of Search and Scrutiny Committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary for selection of Chairman of Commission under KP Whistle Blower and Vigilance Commission Rules 2016. Additional members of the committee included Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Law, Secretary Establishment and one member Provincial Assembly.

The cabinet also approved payment of compensation of Rs. Five hundred thousands each to heirs of two volunteers who embraced martyrdom while dousing forest fire in Gandian area of Haripur district.

The meeting also approved declaring of newly established Upper Chitral district as Session Division in the light of Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 Act.

The cabinet also approved authorization of powers of Additional Majistrats to Assistant Commissioners and Additional Assistant Commissioners under 14-A section of Code of Criminal Procedure Act.

These special majistrats can hear cases related to forest, mineral, food adulteration, encroachment, building control and municipal services.

The cabinet also approved naming of Gandao Dam in Mohmand Agency as Abdul Shakoor dam. The decision has been taken to honor the sacrifice of Abdul Shakoor, contractor of the dam, who embraced martyrdom in 2018 over showing resistance of terrorists who wanted to stop work on the project.

The cabinet also decided to give exemption to KP EZDMEC from KPPRA rules for hiring services of legal consultant.

The meeting also approved appointment of Faisal Salim Rehman as Director in Board of Directors of Rashakai Economic Zone.

The provincial cabinet also approved KP Govt Rest Houses and Tourism Properties regulation, monitoring, management and development Bill 2019 for leasing and outsourcing of government rest houses.

A grant of Rs. 300 million as supplementary grant for making Provincial Tourism Authority as functional was also approved in the meeting. The grant will be handed over to the authority till June 2020.

The cabinet also approved appointment of Kamran Afridi (BPS-18) as Director General Provincial Culture and Tourism Authority.

During the meeting KP Enforcement for Women Property Rights Act 2019 was also approved. Through passage of these rules implementation of already existing act about women rights will be ensured.

A committee was also constituted under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Finance, Taimur Khan Jhagra for smooth, transparent and proper distribution of zakat funds in the province.
