IUB to mark 100th anniversary with Rs100 commemorative coin and stamp, says VC

BAHAWALPUR, Jul 11 (APP):Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran has said that the 100th anniversary of the religious and national services of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) will be celebrated in a grand manner, adding that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) would issue a commemorative coin of Rs. 100 in this regard.
He added that the Pakistan Postal Services would also issue a special commemorative stamp in this connection. The VC expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the special committee and administrators formed for the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The meeting was attended by deans, principal officers, heads of departments, faculty members and officers.
Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, the secretary of the committee, formed for these celebrations, gave details of the celebrations to be held from August 1, 2025 to June 2026. He told the meeting that the logo and slogan of the centenary celebrations of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, “Honoring the past, inspiring the future – 100 years of academic legacy”, have been released.
“The ceremony to be held on August 1 at the Abbasia campus will pay tribute to the founder of Abbasia University, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V, and the first Sheikh-ul-Jamia Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi,” he said. Members of the Abbasia family, parliamentarians, government officials, dignitaries of the city, civil society, teachers and students will participate in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that the main gate of the Abbasia campus would be dedicated to the centenary celebrations. “A garden consisting of 100 trees will be planted and they will be named after 100 eminent personalities of the university,” he said adding that the anthem of the university would also be composed. He added that the centenary convocation of the university and the grand alumni ceremony would be held in the month of November. He concluded that this year, a special tradition of taking the oath would also be started at the introductory ceremony of students besides special events including conferences, seminars, book fairs, research expo, centenary awards, job fairs, flower exhibitions and other events would be held.
