Govt determined to eradicate polio virus from country, province: Governor

QUETTA, Jul 10 (APP): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Thursday said that despite of all the challenges in the way of polio, the government was determined to eradicate the polio virus from the country and the province.
He said that although eradicating a deadly disease like polio was a difficult task, it was not impossible adding that it was our national duty to protect our future generations from lifelong disabilities.
He expressed these views while launching the polio campaign by administering polio drops to a child at the Pishin Rest House here.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Communications Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Provincial Minister for Finance Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, Haji Muhammad Khan Lehri, Provincial Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Deputy Commissioner Pishin Zahid Khan Khilji, Communication Officer Asghar Khan, DG Health Amin Mandokhel and other officials were also present.
The Governor Balochistan stressed the need to work from an innovative and creative angle to ensure maximum results of the polio campaign in the province.
He said that eradicating the polio virus from the country is our national duty and responsibility for which serious steps are needed with a new determination and creative angle and the government is utilizing all resources in this regard.
He urged the parents to ensure cooperation with the polio workers in the anti-polio campaign so that our children remain safe from this deadly disease.
The Governor said that our brave frontline workers are making it possible for children to access the vaccine, the polio virus has been eradicated from all over the world.
He said that the government is continuing its vigorous struggle for the complete elimination of this virus, it is important that parents vaccinate their children against polio in every campaign.
He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where the polio virus is still present, until the virus is completely eradicated, there would be a risk of disability for children.
The Governor directed the health department officials to fully monitor the polio campaign and convince the refusing parents, saying that the local administration, with the cooperation of scholars and tribal elders, must play its role in the anti-polio campaign and polio must be ended from the province.
