Business leader seeks reduction in cement prices to help quake victims

KARACHI, Oct 28 (APP): Atif Ikram Sheikh, representing the local
business community suggested immediate slash in the cement cost to benefit earthquake victims in dire need of reconstruction of abode and infrastructure.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said cement manufacturers realizing
their responsibility towards the victims of recent natural calamity
ought to reduce the price of the product and contribute in their early
rehabilitation.
Sheikh said industrialists and business community may also play its
role to help the affectees.
The suggestion, he said holds relevance as cost of coal, an
essential component for cement, also decreased in the international
market turning the cement production more feasible for local
manufacturers.
