Belarusian FM to pay visits to China, Thailand, Laos

MINSK, Jul 14 (BelTA/APP): Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov will make working visits to the People’s Republic of China, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In China, the minister is set to attend a meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council. This is the first time Belarus will participate in the SCO ministerial meeting in the capacity of a full member of the organization.

During the meeting, the parties are expected to discuss the preparation of the upcoming meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council due in Tianjin in September 2025, and also exchange views on multifaceted cooperation within the organization in the context of the current international and regional agenda. Ways of strengthening regional security will be on the agenda too.

In Thailand, Maksim Ryzhenkov will hold talks with the minister of foreign affairs, meet with representatives of the political establishment of the country. The focus will be on the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in trade, investment, transport, tourism, education and healthcare. During the visit, the parties are set to sign a significant intergovernmental document aimed at expanding economic and investment cooperation.

Meetings with the country’s top leadership and talks with the foreign minister are scheduled in Laos. The parties are set to explore ways of further strengthening political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, developing humanitarian ties and business ties. One of the key outcomes will be the signing of an agreement on visa facilitation, which will greatly facilitate the travel of citizens of both countries and will contribute to the development of tourism, business and cultural exchanges.
