Art provides window into values, challenges, paradigms of society: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (APP): Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday said art was an important medium that provided a window into the values, challenges and paradigms of the society.
Chairing a high level meeting here at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), she said the present government of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif recognized the importance of that platform that “enables us to reflect, critique and reorient our social conscienceness.”
“In order to strengthen this platform we look forward to developing a new arts and culture policy,” the minister emphasised.
This policy, she said, was being designed with the involvement and input of artists with regional representation from across Pakistan.
The vision for that collaboration was to enable the youth art clubs as well as esteemed performing artists, she added.
The youth and children art clubs are being activated at PNCA for public and private schools, colleges and universities with dedicated curriculum.
The minister also visited the galleries at PNCA and shared the government’s vision with the management to engage more youth along with private and public academic institutions.
She directed to install complete educational kiosks by using the technology for visitors facilitation.
She stressed that in a convoluted world fuelled mostly by division and discord the performing arts had a unique ability to unify people unlike anything else does.
