PESHAWAR, Jul 26 (APP):National Peace Jirga held under the chairmanship of Awami National Party Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain, attended by representatives of various political parties, civil society and tribal leaders here Saturday underlined the need of unity against terrorism.
At the beginning of the jirga, a collective prayer was offered for the soul of Maulana Khanzeb, who was martyred in Bajaur, for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter, and for the establishment of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prominent participants included Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, President of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malik Habib Orakzai, Central Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians, Tribal leaders Malik Khan Marjan and Shakeel Orakzai, PPP leader Akhunzada Chattan, Inayatullah Khan, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adil Mahmood, Provincial President of the Mazdoor Kisan Party, Advocate Haider Momand from Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party, Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mufti Kifayatullah,.Ameen Rehman, Provincial Leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S), Maulana Abdul Rasheed from Jamaat-e-Islami, former Senator Abdul Rasheed Khan from JUI-F, Fazal Muqeem Yousafzai, President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Munir,
MPA Shakeel Khan, Tariq Khan, Spokesperson of the Qaumi Watan Party, former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukatullah Khan, former MPA Malik Tahmash Khan, among others.
During the jirga, various suggestions and opinions were presented regarding the establishment of peace in the province.
After the jirga, the official declaration of the jirga was also presented, calling for unity against terrorism.
