Ida Rieu School, a pioneering institution in the field of special education, has long been dedicated to transforming disability into ability under the leadership of its President, Ms. Nadira Panjwani.
Welcoming the distinguished guests and participants from Nigeria, Uganda, Gambia, and Kenya, Ms. Panjwani emphasized that the candidates had been selected through a rigorous process.
She praised the initiative of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH, for launching the program to empower special education teachers across the Muslim world.
She also acknowledged the tireless efforts of both COMSTECH and Ida Rieu teams in making the initiative possible.
The second cohort will stay at the Ida Rieu campus for three months, receiving intensive hands-on training in modern tools and methodologies for teaching and caring for blind and deaf children.
As chief guest, Prof. Dr. Choudhary commended Ms. Panjwani’s vision and philanthropy for championing the cause of special education.
Highlighting the success of the first batch of trainees, he shared that the program had received strong appreciation from OIC member states.
He further proposed the establishment of an OIC Training Centre in Special Education at Ida Rieu, envisioned as a legacy institution for the entire Muslim world.
The ceremony also included an inspiring performance by blind and deaf students of Ida Rieu Schools, who presented a soulful rendition of Pakistan’s national song, symbolizing resilience and talent.
The event marked another milestone in COMSTECH and Ida Rieu Schools’ shared mission to advance inclusive education, capacity building, and collaboration in special education across OIC member states.
