LARKANA, Jul 03 (APP):The Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Dr. Sharjeel Noor Channa, said that girls aged between 12 and 15 should be vaccinated to protect them from gynecological diseases so that they can live a healthy life.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held at the Darbar Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, organized by the Health Department and PPHI regarding gynecological diseases among girls.
He emphasized that children, especially girls, should be properly targeted for vaccination to safeguard their health and future and enable them to live a healthy life.
He further said that this is a commendable initiative by the Sindh government, which will help protect children’s health. He explained that while the campaign is currently focused on schools, efforts should also extend to communities—particularly through home visits for vaccination.
He directed teams, especially Lady Health Workers (LHWs), to go door-to-door in rural areas and vaccinate women and, more specifically, young girls.
He noted that women play a key role by working hard and spreading awareness, and therefore, their involvement is essential to the success of this campaign.
He also emphasized the need to develop micro plans and security plans to ensure that no child is left behind and that the vaccination target is fully met. Additionally, the data should be accurately recorded and completed.
Earlier, awareness was provided through maps and charts about the disease, explaining that the human papillomavirus (HPV) particularly affects young girls and can lead to illnesses such as cancer and others. It was also mentioned that HIV can develop as a result.
During the briefing, it was stated that the campaign has three primary objectives: vaccination, screening, and treatment. To achieve this, girls between the ages of 9 and 15 will be vaccinated.
He further explained that there are four categories of targets: global white, high case, middle case, and lower-middle case.
The campaign aims to include 19% males and 70% females for vaccination to protect them from these diseases, with a special focus on school-going girls. Registration will be carried out before the vaccination is administered.
He added that this vaccine has already been administered in various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and others.
The campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 136,000 individuals, and to further raise awareness, seminars will be organized, media talks will be held, and a dedicated campaign will be conducted from July 14 to July 24, 2025.
Officials from the Health Department, PPHI representatives, and other relevant personnel attended the meeting.
