MULTAN, Jul 24 (APP):President Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) South Punjab, Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmood, Senior Vice President Khawaja Rizwan Alam, and Chief Coordinator South Punjab Abdul Qadir Shaheen in a joint statement condemned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its continuous politics of deceit and anarchy.
They criticized Umar Ayub for his comments in which, he had stated that during the protests following the martyrdom of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, PPP leaders and workers were not arrested.
They clarified that PPP had not called for any protests after Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, nor did the party leadership lead any demonstrations. The reaction was a spontaneous response from the public to the tragic event. To manage the public’s emotions, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari raised the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” (We want Pakistan), showcasing true leadership.
In contrast, when Niazi was arrested without harm, PTI orchestrated planned attacks on GHQ, Corps Commander’s House, military installations, and martyrs’ memorials, they stated. Numerous videos and photographs provide evidence of these attacks. Moreover, Niazi publicly stated in the Supreme Court that there would be a stronger reaction if he was arrested again.
They further stated that Niazi should have confessed to inciting attacks on military installations long ago. PTI has laid the foundation for politics of hatred and violence, and its deliberate schemes aim to destabilize national and international relations, they maintained. PPP has always opposed and continues to oppose such anti-nationalist ideologies and political tactics. They emphasized that the nation’s survival lied in PTI abandoning negative politics and embracing positive change. However, PTI’s consistent negative approach suggests otherwise.
At present, they stated the public is suffering from high inflation and unemployment. All political parties should focus on providing relief to the public through parliamentary efforts. The exorbitant electricity bills have burdened the poor and shattered the middle class. Daily wage earners are struggling with hunger and poverty. The government must urgently provide relief to the public, they concluded.
