SARGODHA, Jul 05 (APP):Police on Saturday finalized a comprehensive security plan for the 10th of Muharram (Ashura),under which more than 4,500 personnel would be deployed across the district.
According to a press release issued by DPO office,District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf would personally oversee the entire security operation.
According to the security plan,a total of 214 processions would be held across Sargodha district on Ashura day. These include 27 of Category A,32 of Category B and 133 of Category C processions.
Additionally,224 majalis (religious gatherings) would also take place,for which 1,000 personnel have been assigned specifically.
Elite Force units would patrol sensitive and high-risk areas,while over 100 female police officers would be deployed to manage security at processions and majalis venues.
In Sargodha city,three major processions will begin separately—one from Block 5,another from Block 19 and the third from Maqam-e-Hayat. These would later converge at Gol Chowk, forming the central procession.
For security purposes,barbed wire barricades have been installed along the procession routes and entry will be allowed only from designated points.Each procession would be provided three-tier security coverage and all routes have been swept and cleared in advance.
Moreover,CCTV surveillance was in place to ensure foolproof security and real-time monitoring throughout the Ashura proceedings.
The police have urged citizens to cooperate fully and remain vigilant to maintain peace and order on this significant day.
