LAHORE, Jul 07 (APP):The city experienced cloudy skies and scattered rainfall on Monday, with the MET Office forecasting similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
According to MET officials, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected today (Tuesday), which may trigger flash flooding in local streams and nullahs across several regions, including Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the hill torrents of D.G. Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and various parts of Balochistan such as Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Bolan, Zhob, Ziarat, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela.
Officials also warned that landslides or mudslides could lead to road closures in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir. Moreover, urban flooding is likely in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar. The public has been advised to take all necessary precautions during the ongoing wet spell.
The current weather pattern is being influenced by monsoon currents penetrating most parts of the country, along with a westerly wave affecting central and southern regions.
Rain-wind/thundershowers are forecast across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast and south Balochistan, Islamabad, and upper Sindh. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in parts of Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, KP, and northern Balochistan.
Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Karor, Kot Addu, DG Khan, Bhakkar, Narowal, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Multan, DI Khan, Bacha Khan, Peshawar, Malam Jabba, Bannu, Takht Bai, Mardan, Muzaffarabad, Lasbela, Khuzdar, Ziarat, and Sukkur.
The highest temperature recorded on Monday was 47°C in Nokkundi, while Lahore saw a high of 32°C.
