PESHAWAR, Aug 02 (APP): Provincial Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai has said that the provincial government will take steps to make the Cooperative Department more active to enable the farmers to get benefits and support in the true sense. He directed to provide details of the Cooperative Department’s assets and point out where assets are leased.
He gave these instructions while chairing a meeting of the Cooperative Department here Friday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Muhammad Fakhar Alam, Registrar Cooperative Muhammad Ishaq, Director General Livestock Extension Dr. Asal Khan and others relevant officials.
During a briefing, the meeting was told that at present, there were 5200 registered societies in the province which were providing services in various sectors such as housing, handicrafts, marketing, honey bee keeping and others. The meeting was also informed about the problems faced in this regard.
The provincial minister issued instructions that a joint task force should be formed to formulate a comprehensive policy for the rehabilitation and development of the Livestock, Fisheries and especially the Cooperatives department so that the department can play an important role in the development of the people and especially farmers.
He further said that in the past, cooperative banks used to provide loans to farmers on easy terms and conditions to buy fertilizer, seeds and directed to take steps to revive Cooperative Bank.
