PESHAWAR, Jul 07 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing harsh power load shedding and low voltage issues affecting residents throughout the province.

Chairing a meeting with Wapda and PESCO officials, the Governor said that the situation was unacceptable and directed immediate measures to address public complaints and improve electricity supply.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has directed Wapda and PESCO officials to take immediate action to resolve complaints regarding excessive load shedding and low voltage in various areas.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Akhtar Hameed Khan, Chief Engineer Development Zubair Kundi, Project Directors Zafar Iqbal and Ajmal Khan and PDC Executive Engineer Kashif Khan.

During the briefing, Wapda officials informed the Governor about ongoing recovery operations in Dera Ismail Khan, construction of new grid stations, coordination issues with FESCO in the Balochistan Power Supply Project (Bilot), and other related matters.

Governor Kundi expressed concern over the negative impact on services due to the shortage of staff in PESCO, terming it an injustice to both the public and the department.

He instructed that a letter be written to the federal government, requesting the fulfillment of staffing requirements to improve public service delivery.

He also emphasized the swift installation of machinery at the Bandkurai Grid Station, saying that its completion would reduce load shedding and low voltage complaints in connected areas by better distribution of electrical load.

Furthermore, the Governor urged that load shedding schedules should be managed in a way that water supply schemes are not disrupted, especially during the intense summer heat when water shortages create serious difficulties for citizens.

He stressed the need for proactive measures to mitigate these hardships.

Meanwhile in another meeting, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has emphasized that the Governor serves as the true representative of the people, reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party’s longstanding commitment to addressing public issues and securing people’s rights.

He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation led by former MPA Khalid Waqar Chamkani at the Governor House. Prominent PPP leaders including provincial president Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, divisional president Misbahuddin Khan, district general secretary Khalid Achhar, party workers, and local social figures were also present on the occasion.

Governor Kundi expressed concern over the ongoing electricity crisis, saying that the primary cause of load shedding is poor recovery. He said that in many areas, residents pay their bills, yet they continue to suffer from load shedding. He directed WAPDA authorities to work in collaboration with local elders to find a viable solution. He also acknowledged that gas-related problems persist and assured the delegation of his efforts to address them.

“Both government officials and the public share responsibility in the failure to resolve issues. We must understand the ground realities,” he remarked.

Governor Kundi reiterated his commitment to securing provincial rights and stressed the need for unity among all political parties in the province to achieve this goal.

He strongly criticized the previous PTI government for bringing destruction to the province, saying that lawlessness, political victimization, and corruption had become its defining features.

He encouraged the delegation to form a representative committee, promising to arrange meetings with relevant departments so that issues can be resolved in a phased manner.

During the meeting, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) PK-11 President Qaiser Khan, Mashokhel President Janisar Khan, Musafir Khan, and Masho Gagar President Arab Nawaz Khan along with their supporters announced their decision to join the Pakistan Peoples Party.
