LAHORE, Jul 22 (APP):The Civil Services Academy (CSA), Lahore, inaugurated the 53rd Common Training Programme (CTP), marking the start of formal training for 137 newly inducted probationary officers, future torchbearers of Pakistan’s Civil Service.
The allocation of 137 officers from the 53rd CTP – including 15 non-Muslim, 76 women and 61 men officers reflects the CSA’s mission to cultivate a Civil Service representative of Pakistan’s pluralistic and dynamic identity. This cohort includes officers from diverse occupational groups and regions: includes 50 officers from Balochistan, 16 from FATA, 10 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK); 11 from Punjab and 50 from Sindh. This distribution underscores a continued commitment to regional representation in public service.
The day commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony in front of the historic Mehran Block, led by top FPSC merit holders Mir Mussawwir Ali and Zuha Tiwana. The national anthem echoed through the campus, reinforcing a shared sense of duty and commitment.
The ceremony was graced by the distinguished presence of Director General CSA, Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Director CTP Dr. Syed Shabbir Akbar Zaidi, Director (Administration & Finance) Muhammad Bilal Akram, and Academic Group Incharges; Nazia Jabeen, Syed Babar Zulfiqar, Fizza Shahid and Zofishan Manzoor. Faculty members, current probationary officers and a special group of CSS aspirants from minority communities across Pakistan also participated in the event.
Delivering the keynote address at the Iqbal Auditorium, Director General CSA, Farhan Aziz Khawaja, offered a heartfelt welcome to the 53rd CTP officers. He underscored the Academy’s motto of “Khidmat-un-Naas” (Service to the People), reminding the new officers of their sacred duty as custodians of public trust. The DG noted that this batch includes individuals from marginalised and underrepresented communities, including religious minorities, marking a progressive step toward greater social equity and national integration within the Civil Services. He emphasised the values of discipline, accountability and leadership by example, and called upon the officers to play their part in promoting inclusive governance, national integration and sustainable development.
Director CTP, Dr. Syed Shabbir Akbar Zaidi, delivered a comprehensive orientation. He outlined the vision, goals and academic roadmap of the training programme, covering its structured modules, innovative teaching methodologies, emphasis on character development and a rigorous performance evaluation system. Dr Shabbir also elaborated on the wide array of sports, co-curricular activities, leadership-building initiatives and the importance of cultivating professional ethics throughout the course.
Director A&F, Muhammad Bilal Akram, urged the young officers to embrace their roles with integrity, discipline and a service-oriented mindset. He highlighted the significance of public sector management and resource stewardship in driving positive change across Pakistan’s governance landscape.
The ceremony concluded on a high note, symbolising the beginning of a transformative journey for the probationary officers of the 53rd CTP.
