PESHAWAR, Jul 07 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority Director General Habibullah Arif has urged the provincial government to station dedicated helicopters in Malakand and Hazara divisions to improve emergency response.
Speaking to the media, Habibullah Arif emphasized that basing helicopters in Peshawar delays rescue operations in remote northern areas. He proposed permanently deploying one helicopter in Malakand and another in Hazara to expedite relief efforts during floods, landslides, or tourist emergencies. He added that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has already directed authorities to initiate work on the project.
The appeal comes as monsoon rains increase the risk of flash floods and road blockages in the region.
He stressed that decentralizing emergency resources is crucial for public safety and tourism growth.
He called on disaster management authorities to prioritize the measure for faster crisis response.
