QUETTA, Jul 10 (APP):In a groundbreaking move under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Balochistan government has initiated a major reform in Finance Department aimed at transforming financial governance through innovation, transparency, and expertise.
A dedicated Specialist Wing comprising financial experts has been established to enhance fiscal analysis, research, and economic planning. This newly created wing will function independently from the traditional bureaucratic structure and will be staffed by professionals from the private sector, selected through a transparent, merit-based process.
According to the source of Finance Department, the specialists will offer professional services in financial research, budget analysis, revenue assessment, and policy formulation. The aim is to ensure that Balochistan’s economic goals are pursued more effectively and sustainably.
As part of these reforms, many vacant positions within the department’s conventional structure have been returned to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD). Going forward, the department will operate with two distinct units: a technical and specialist wing and a separate bureaucratic wing, enhancing operational efficiency and accountability.
Speaking on the initiative, Balochistan’s Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon described the project as a first-of-its-kind model in Pakistan. “This is a serious attempt to replicate private-sector efficiency within the public sector,” he stated. “It allows financial policy-making and resource allocation to be based on modern analytical approaches, ultimately improving public service delivery and development planning.”
Zarkoon emphasized that the reform is a key element of Chief Minister Bugti’s broader governance strategy, which is focused on results-based management and institutional modernization.
“This initiative marks a new chapter in Balochistan’s financial future and stands as a milestone in establishing transparent, effective, and sustainable governance,” he added.
