Senate body gives recommendations for Budget FY 16-17

ISLAMABAD, June 17 (APP): Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue Friday presented its recommendations for Budget 2016-17 in the Upper House.

Presenting 139 recommendations in Senate here, Chairman of the committee Saleem Mandviwala recommended that 25 percent increase should be for the pensioners above the age of 75 years instead of 85 years.

The committee recommended that the salary raise for government employees should be 15 per cent while minimum wage be increased to Rs 14,000.

In its recommendation, the committee said that 20 new dams should be constructed on emergency basis to overcome water shortage and scarcely in the country.

The Committee also recommended to establish emergency medical center on all motorways and highways to tackle any critical situation.

The committee also recommended to allocate funds to give interest-free loans to the widows, orphans, farmers and youth for empowering them financially.

It recommended that the Federal Board of Revenue should be given powers to probe 20 years’ tax returns while zero-rating should be opted for stationery items.

Senator Saleem Mandviwala also recommended that the Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI), Workers Welfare Funds and Evacuee Trust Board should be handed over to the provinces.
