ECO to help exporters in saving time, money: VC FCCI

FAISALABAD, Jul 16 (APP):Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Vice President Shahid Mumtaz Bajwa has said that launch of “Electronic Certificate of Origin” (ECO) for Non-Preferential Trade is a positive step that would help the exporters in saving their time and money.
He was addressing a training session arranged by “Pakistan Single Window” (PSW) to give much needed awareness about the new module to issue ECO for non-preferential trade.
He said that a large number of FCCI members are linked with the export business and they have to visit FCCI to get ECO for their each and every export consignment. He said that they could now get ECO by sitting in their office. He urged the exporters and their representatives to fully understand the operation of this new module and ask any question to remove any reservations and apprehensions.
“It is imperative to fully understand and benefit from this new arrangement’’, he said and thanked TDAP and PSW for arranging this training session on this important topic in FCCI.
Later, Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad Domain Officer PSW gave a comprehensive demonstration and said that the issuance of ECO for non-preferential trade would be started from July 17, 2025 with one month grace period.
“It would help the exporters and concerned staff of FCCI to fully understand and implement it for the benefit of their members”, he added.
He said that 70% of import and export have already been digitized with the courtesy of PSW while a new module to issue ECO would offer a new facility to the exporters.
Responding to a question, he clarified that the role of FCCI in issuance of ECO will remain intact as its concerned officer would certify the contents while applicants could download ECO with FCCI logo. He further said that fees paid electronically for ECO would be automatically transferred to the FCCI bank account while PSW would also charge an additional fee of Rs.100 for services provided by it.
Muhammad Nauman from Islamabad and Muhammad Faisal from Karachi also participated through zoom and gave their input about the new module to issue ECO.
Mirza Muhammad Ashraf Mughal, Mian Muhammad Tayyab, Rana Muhammad Saeed, Qaisar Bajwa and FCCI staff also participated in this training session.
