LAHORE, Jul 08 (APP):Commissioner Lahore Division Zaid bin Maqsood on Tuesday visited various parts of the city including Cantonment and Gulberg, to assess post-rain drainage operations following the recent spell of monsoon rains.
During the inspection, the Commissioner also visited the WASA Head Office, where he reviewed the functioning of Monsoon Control Room. He examined the Rain Monitoring Dashboard, live surveillance feeds from underpasses, and real-time monitoring systems of disposal stations to evaluate the ongoing drainage efforts. The control room provided him with a live overview of operations underway at critical emergency points and across major thoroughfares of the city.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Tahir Farooq accompanied the Commissioner during the visit.
WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed briefed the Commissioner on the current status of drainage operations, highlighting the mobilization of teams across the city and the operational readiness of all disposal infrastructure.
Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood directed the WASA and the district administration to ensure that all major roads and low-lying neighborhoods remain completely cleared of water. He stressed the importance of running all disposal stations at full capacity and maintaining active backup systems to prevent any service disruption. He also directed that clearance operations should be carried out in accordance with the predefined schedule and that all public complaints and reports should receive immediate attention.
He said that providing relief and essential services to the citizens remains a top priority for the Punjab government. He assured that drainage operations were actively underway across all vulnerable zones, including various underpasses and low-lying points, and that relevant teams were working around the clock.
The Commissioner also advised the public to exercise caution during rainfall, urging citizens to stay away from electric poles and follow all necessary safety measures to avoid any hazards.
