“So far, more than half of China’s advanced sci-tech companies are located in Beijing, where is working hard to build an innovation system, which means it is at the forefront of digital transformation. It is indeed timely to hold the Global Digital Economy Conference here,” Beate Trankmann, UNDP Resident Representative in China, emphasized, CEN reported.
Addressing in a keynote speech, she told that “there are less than five years until the deadline of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, however, the progress of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals is not satisfactory. Therefore, we urgently need global digital transformation to help achieve the goals. China has a lot of innovation and valuable experience in using digital technology for urban governance, which is of great reference significance to the international community.”
“In line with the theme of this conference, build a digitally friendly city, it is urgent to ensure the inclusiveness of digital cities. I am honored to be here to show the beneficial progress of Tashkent and Beijing’s digital cooperation in the field of social services,” said Rahimova Durdona Shukurulayevna, Deputy Mayor of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. “Digital health is the key point to our cooperation.
We are committed to learning from Beijing’s experience in telemedicine, and through joint projects on remote diagnosis and health consultation services for rural populations, we have significantly improved our health care standards. Looking ahead, I propose the following joint initiatives between Tashkent and Beijing: pilot joint projects in the field of digital health, online and offline education, and public safety platforms, with a focus on remote poor communities and marginalized groups.”
On the same day, Beijing has officially joined hands with more than 40 core partner cities from five continents, including Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America, to jointly initiate the establishment of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance.
