ABBOTTABAD, Oct 27 (APP):The month-long spell of dry weather across the region has begun to take a toll on public health, with a noticeable rise in cases of respiratory infections, throat irritation, skin allergies, and eye problems reported in both urban and rural areas.
Medical specialists have expressed concern over the growing number of patients visiting hospitals with seasonal ailments. Dr. Bakhtawar, a leading medical specialist and Medical Superintendent Type D Hospital Havelian, said that the prolonged dry conditions and increased dust in the atmosphere have severely affected people with weak immunity, especially children and the elderly.
“We are witnessing a surge in cases of influenza, dry cough, throat irritation, and allergic reactions due to the persistent dry spell,” Dr. Bakhtawar noted. “People should keep themselves hydrated, wear masks outdoors, and avoid exposure to dust. Using saline sprays and steam inhalation can also help reduce symptoms.”
The Health Department has urged citizens to adopt preventive measures, maintain personal hygiene, and seek medical attention in case of persistent symptoms. Meteorological officials have forecast that the dry spell may continue for several more days, with no significant rainfall expected soon.
they have appealed to the public to remain cautious and protect vulnerable family members as the region continues to experience unusually prolonged dry weather conditions.
