Pre-monsoon rains forecast in next 2-3 days

ISLAMABAD: June 14, (APP): Met Office forecast pre-monsoon
rains over upper parts of the country during Wednesday evening to
Friday.

Rain/dust-thundershower is expected at scattered places in
Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Peshawar,
Mardan, Kohat divisions and Islamabad during Wednesday evening to
Thursday.

However, isolated heavy falls also expected in Rawalpindi,
Gujranwala divisions and Islamabad on Thursday.

Spokesman Met office told APP that pre-monsoon currents are
penetrating in upper Punjab and Kashmir and a fresh westerly wave is
also likely to approach upper parts of the country on Wednesday.

Under the influence of such meteorological conditions
Spokesman further informed that two good rains of pre-monsoon
are likely to occur in the country during the coming week.

He said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its
trough extending eastward. Weak moist currents from Arabian sea are
penetrating in upper/eastern parts of the country and likely to
continue during next 3-4 days. A shallow westerly wave is likely to
enter upper parts of the country on Wednesday evening/night and may
persist till Friday.

In last 24 hours weather remained hot and dry in most parts of
the country. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places
in Lahore and Hazara divisions.

Rainfall recorded during this time span was Lahore City 05mm
and Kakul 01mm.

Maximum temperatures recorded on Tuesday remained Dalbandin,
Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sibbi, Kohat 46øC, Bhakkar,
Jacobabad, Turbat, Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the
country. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in
Lahore and Hazara divisions. R.Y.Khan 45øC. Islamabad 41øC, Lahore
