Mainly dry weather in most parts; rain in upper areas likely: PMD

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department
(PMD) Friday forecast mainly dry weather in most parts of the
country during the next 24 hours.
However rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at
isolated places of Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi,
Quetta, Zhob divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper FATA, Islamabad
and Kashmir, the PMD said in its daily report.
According to synoptic condition, a fresh westerly wave is
likely to approach upper on Friday (evening/night) and likely to
persist over upper and central parts of the country till Monday.
An official of Met office told APP that the coming rain
spell will result in formal advent of winter as the temperature
fall especially at night time and early morning.
It will also good for decreasing the dengue fear as the
weather will not be suitable for mosquito larvae breading
and the intensity of the outbreak of this deadly disease will
be subsided.
Normally in pre-winter season, he said, one to two rains
occur in October but this year their range and time period was
better than previous one, which have positive affect on the
weather pattern.
He said these rains are good for crops especially wheat
sowing as the soil will absorb adequate water and farmer can
expect a good production.
During the last 24 hours weather remained dry in most parts
of the country.
Highest temperatures recorded from different
parts of the country included Turbat 40øC, Lasbella, Mithi 39øC.
Islamabad 30øC, Lahore 32øC, Karachi 37øC, Peshawar 30øC Quetta
26øC, Gilgit 20øC, Hunza 14øC , Muzaffarabad 27øC, Murree 20øC,
Skardu 18øC, Faisalabad 33øC, Multan 34øC, Hyderabad 38øC, Kalat
22øC.
