Cold weather to prevail across country, Light rain and snowfall expected in northern areas

ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Mainly cold weather is expected to persist in most parts of the country on Tuesday, with very cold conditions anticipated in hilly areas during morning and night hours.

However, light rain and snowfall accompanied by gusty winds are forecasted in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir during the evening and night, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The synoptic situation has indicated that continental air is currently dominating over most regions of the country, maintaining the cold and dry spell.

During the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across much of the country over the last 24 hours, with very cold conditions recorded in the hilly areas.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were Leh at -12 C, Gupis and Skardu at -10 C, Astore at -9 C, Hunza, Gilgit, Bagrote, and Kalam at -5 C, and Quetta at -4 C.

The PMD has advised residents in affected regions to prepare for colder temperatures and exercise caution in areas expecting rain or snowfall.
