ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP): A group of thirty top position
holding students of graduation level from all over Pakistan visited the Consulate General of Pakistan in Manchester.
The group comprised high achievers and several of them were
world record holders in various academic subjects at O Level and A Level, said a press release received here Friday.
A group of students from three high schools of Manchester ;
Parrs Wood, Levenshulme and Wally Range high school also participated in the event. Three students of Manchester University, Fiza, Javairia Ahmed and Aziz made short speeches on “What Pakistan means to me”.
British Pakistani students Samman Muhammad, Sadaf Un Nisa and
Minhal Qadri recited verses from Holy Quran and presented national songs.
Welcoming the students, Consul General Zahoor Ahmed ,
congratulated them on their academic achievements and said that they represented a young educated and determined future of Pakistan.
He also briefed the students about Pakistan UK relations,
Pakistani diaspora and the work done by diplomatic missions abroad.
He appreciated the initiative of the Government of Punjab to
familiarize bright and promising students from all over Pakistan, with the leading educational institutions of Europe.
Chairman Overseas Pakistani Foundation Barrister Amjad Malik
welcomed the students and termed the visit an initiative of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that would provide the students a great exposure and confidence.
Patsy Kane, executive Head Teacher of Wally Range and
Levenshulme high schools also welcomed the students and said that the visit would provide them a unique opportunity to interact with their British peers which would be mutually beneficial.
The students are accompanied by Dr Azam Vice Chancellor of
University of Education, Dr. Tahira Sikander, Principal, Government Girls College Lahore and Shahid Iqbal, Additional Secretary, Chief Minister’s Secretariat Punjab.
Later, the Consul General also presented mementos to the students.
