ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP): Minister for Information,
Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Wednesday that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a manifestation of the shared vision of people of China and Pakistan.

“The CPEC will bring peace and prosperity in the region by
improving communications and infrastructure. It will help facilitate free movement of goods and services and encourage people to people contacts,” he said while speaking at the Cultural Troupe here, jointly organized by Chinese Embassy and Pakistan National Council
of Arts on the eve of 67th anniversary of founding of People’s Republic of China.

The minister said that Pak China relationship had been
transformed into a partnership that had many facets, encompassing political, social, economic and cultural aspects.

“History is the root and culture is the spirit. Our relations
are both rooted in history and culture. The friendship between both the countries is time tested and has grown from strength to strength. Surely, we are ‘Iron Brother,’ he added.

He underlined the need to increase people to people contacts, which he said would not only promote amity, peace, harmony and better understanding among peoples but would also accelerate development.

“Today we live in a world ravaged by wars. Revolution in
information communication technology has turned the world into a global village. There is a dire need for peace, better understanding and cooperation,” he said.

Pervaiz Rashid said that he had recently visited Silk Road
International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang, China where he was extended exemplary hospitality.

“I find myself short of words to express my gratitude to the
people of Dunhuang for their warmth and hospitality extended to me and I felt I was in my own home. I was impressed by a special theater performance arranged for the guests in Dunhuang city, which to say the least, was mesmerizing and capsuled the entire culture along the Silk Route,” he said.

He also asked ChinesE Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong to examine the possibility of staging a similar show in Pakistan. He said that the cultural exchanges between the two countries would not only enhance understanding between the two nations but also educate the people about each other.
