ISLAMABAD Aug 11 (APP): Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation upholds the journalistic norms by adopting the policy of credible reporting and manifesting impartiality as a state news agency, said Managing Director APP Masood Malik on Thursday.
“APP ensures impartial and unbiased reporting of the parliamentary proceedings, political activities and other events,” he said while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf office bearers who had visited the APP head office.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf delegation, led by Additional Secretary Information Faisal Javed, had referred to the recently published news report and claimed that Charities Commission in United Kingdom was not investigating charities of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust, Namal College or Imran Khan Relief Fund.
He mentioned to an Email message by Charity Commission stating that the Commission was not currently investigating the isue.
The Email message conveyed to the APP Management also mentioned that the Commission had not published any report relating to these charities. However, neither the Email message nor the PTI office bearers could present any contradiction by the Metro newspaper from where actually the report had originated.
Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan Masood Malik informed the visiting delegation that the news story filed by APP was based on preparation of an adjournment motion by some parliamentarians to be filed in the Parliament with regards to report published in Metro newspaper.
“The news about investigation of Charities was actually reported by the Metro Newspaper and not by the APP. The APP filed the news about preparation of an adjournment motion by some Parliamentarians who had decided to move forward on the basis of Metro newspaper report,” Masood Malik said.
He said PTI may have its own stance on the news report but the actual rebuttal was needed to be issued by the newspaper which had generated the news.
He told the PTI office bearers that the report mentioned by them, related to an adjournment motion as the original story about investigation was reported by the Metro Newspaper and not by APP.
It is mentioned that even in the Email presented to the Managing Director APPC, there was no mention of any rebuttal issued by Metro Newspaper.
