State institutions suffered losses as 163,000 employees regularized by Khursheed Shah committee: Fawad

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday said total 163,000 employees, including those sacked in 1996, were regularized by the committee headed by the PPPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah despite the fact many appeals of such employees were settled by the apex and other courts.
Speaking in the Senate, the minister regretted the harsh words used by him. He, however, said he stood by his views expressed about Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and Senator Mushahidullah Khan.
He said various state institutions, including Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Steel Mills, the PTV, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Railways, had to suffer losses during the previous regimes.
PML-N Senator Mushahidullah Khan protested over the minister’s remarks and demanded a formal apology. Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, however, asked Leader of the House Shibli Faraz and Senator Mian Raza Rabbani to intervene, who later informed the House about settlement of issues between the two.
Earlier, PPPP’s Mian Raza Rabbani said the atmosphere of the House should not be disturbed by raising controversial issues. The House was to discuss economic issues, including talks with the IMF, while the chairman’s ruling could not be challenged.
