Zone-VI register first win, Zone-I, Zone-VII maintain winning streak in U-19 tournament

Zone-VI recorded their first victory, while Zone-I and Zone-VII secured their second consecutive wins in the Regional Inter-District Under-19 One-Day Cricket League Tournament being organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at various venues across the city.

KARACHI, Jun 18 (APP): Zone-VI recorded their first victory, while Zone-I and Zone-VII secured their second consecutive wins in the Regional Inter-District Under-19 One-Day Cricket League Tournament being organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at various venues across the city.
The day’s play was highlighted by superb centuries from Huzaifa Ahsan and Muhammad Humza Malik, while Niqab Shafiq and Majid Ali starred with the ball.
At the KCCA Stadium, Zone-VI thrashed Zone-III by 166 runs after posting 282 for seven in their allotted 50 overs. Huzaifa Ahsan struck a brilliant 123, featuring 18 fours and a six, while Hammad Alam contributed 53 and Muhammad Azaan added 34.
For Zone-III, Anas Baloch claimed three wickets for 90 runs, while Asadullah Khan and Asad Akhtar took two wickets each.
In reply, Zone-III were bowled out for 116 in 40.4 overs. Haider Ali scored 33 and Anas Baloch made 32. Niqab Shafiq was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 28 runs, while Saad Sakhawat took three for 23.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Zone-VII defeated Zone-II by 91 runs to register their second successive victory of the tournament.
Batting first, Zone-VII scored 253 for six in 50 overs. Adil Khan made 71, while Syed Shayan Faheem scored 68. Sahil contributed 38 runs.
Abdul Rauf and Muhammad Huzaifa claimed two wickets each for Zone-II.
Chasing 254, Zone-II could only manage 162 for seven in their allotted overs. Zain Ali Jaffri top-scored with 66, while Muhammad Furqan made 24. Abdul Rahim claimed three wickets for 55 runs and Shahroz Khan took two for 28.
In the third match at Eid Gah Ground, Korangi, Zone-I edged past Zone-V by 15 runs in a closely contested encounter.
Zone-I were bowled out for 218 in 41.4 overs, with Muhammad Humza Malik producing a match-winning knock of 102, including 17 boundaries and two sixes. Monis Nadeem chipped in with 25 runs.
Majid Ali starred for Zone-V with figures of four for 31, while Syed Muhammad Ali Mehdi Zaidi claimed three for 28.
In reply, Zone-V were dismissed for 203 in 45.3 overs despite Muhammad Akbar’s 52 and Ahmed Shahzad’s 47. Muhammad Farman and Muhammad Affan Abbasi took three wickets each to seal victory for Zone-I.
According to the tournament schedule, the next round of matches will be played on June 23, with Zone-V facing Zone-IV at the UBL Sports Complex, Zone-II taking on Zone-VI at the KCCA Stadium, and Zone-III meeting Zone-VII at Eid Gah Ground, Korangi.
