KARACHI, May 29 (APP):Defending champions Zone-VI retained their crown in the PCB Inter-District U-19 One Day Cricket Tournament (Karachi Region) after a commanding 225-run win over Zone-V, powered by a spectacular 194-run knock from Huzaifa Ahsan at the KCCA Stadium.
Batting first, Zone-VI posted a massive total of 333/9 in 50 overs. Huzaifa Ahsan was the star of the innings, smashing 194 off 157 balls, including 25 fours and 5 sixes. He was well-supported by Sajjad Ahmed (67) and Hammad Alam (25). Zone-V’s Hazik Qureshi stood out with the ball, claiming five wickets for 34 runs.
In reply, Zone-V faltered under pressure and were bowled out for just 108 in 25.2 overs. Niqab Shafiq (3/12) and Abdul Hayee (3/39) led the bowling attack, while Saad Sakhawat also contributed with two wickets.
Other Matches:
At Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground, Zone-I defeated Zone-II by four wickets in a high-scoring contest. Zone-II posted 269/5, with Abdullah Waheed scoring 79 and Muhammad Siddiqui adding 55. Zone-I successfully chased down the target, reaching 270/6 in 48.4 overs, thanks to a solid century by Sahil Nisar (101) and 79 from Affan Shahnawaz. Aleem Mohsin chipped in with 47.
In the final match of the tournament, Zone-IV cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Zone-III at Landhi Gymkhana Ground. Zone-III collapsed for just 80 runs, with Huzaifa Bin Sajid delivering a stunning bowling performance, taking 6 wickets for just 6 runs. Zone-IV chased the target in just 13.1 overs, led by Nusa Azad’s 36 and Ahmer Riaz’s unbeaten 22.
The tournament, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board, concluded with Zone-VI emerging as the champion for the second time, highlighting the rising talent in Karachi’s youth cricket circuit.
