Younis recalled in ODI squad for series against England

KARACHI, Nov 5 (APP): Record-breaking Test batsman Younis Khan
was recalled in Pakistan’s one-day squad against England starting next
week, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.
Veteran batsman Younis was not considered in Pakistan’s one-day
squad after the Cricket World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand in
February-March this year.
Younis during the Test series against England become Pakistan’s
highest Test run-getter and scored his 30th Test hundred.
“Chairman PCB Shaharyar Mohammad Khan has approved the Pakistan
squad for the four-match ODI series which commences on November 11 at
Abu Dhabi following the recommendation of the selection committee
headed by Haroon Rashid,” PCB said in a media release.
Younis was in a hot discussions by experts for indudction in the
one-day and finally got seelctors nod.
Chief selector Haroon is in United Arab Emirates to
finalize the team in consultations with chief coach Waqar Younis.
Other got selection included in the team opener Babar Azam,
wicketkeeper/batsman Muhammad Rizwan, all-rounders Bilal Asif and
Anwar Ali, Amir Yamin and left arm spinner Zafar Gohar.
“Keeping in view his current form, Younis Khan has been included
in the squad to land stability to the middle order batting. Now it is
up to Younis to prove that he could meet the demands of the modern-day
one-day cricket and play according to the team management’s game
plan,” Chief Selector Haroon Rashid, said.
“Zafar Gohar has been included in place of injured Imad Wasim,
who is expected to be fit before the T20 series,” he said.

Azhar Ali (Captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan,
Shoaib Malik, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali,
Amir Yamin, Yasir Shah, Zafar Gohar, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Rahat
Ali and Bilal Asif.
