Wapda wins National Cycling Men’s title, Women’s title goes to Army

LAHORE, May 07 (APP):Showing all-round skills and undying stamina, riders from Wapda won the 3rd National Men’s Road Championship at
Peshawar as Army claimed the National Women’s Road Championship title.
The three-day national premier activity was participated by all
affiliated units of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, said a spokesman
for Pakistan Cycling Federation here on Monday.
Wapda remained all-time king of the men’s competition and secured
116 points and were followed by Pakistan Army, who bagged the second position with 68 points.
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) stood at third position with
52 points.
However, in the women competition, Wapda had to content with the
second place as the Army threw a unbeatable challenge by winning all
the four goal medals at stake.
Wapda’s Izzat Ullah was declared the best cyclist of the Men’s Championship.
In 56-kilometre Criterium Race for Men, Waheed of SSGC got gold,
Nisar Ahmad of Wapda won silver whereas Arslan of Army got bronze
medals.
In 98-km Road Race for Men, Izzatullah of Wapda grabbed gold,
Abbas of Army got silver, whereas Hafiz Tahir of Wapda won bronze
medals.
In 70-km Team Time Trial Men, Wapda won gold, Army got silver
and SSGC destined for bronze medals.
In 42-km Individual Time Trial Men, Najeebullah of Wapda secured
gold, Arslan of Army won silver and Izzatullah of Wapda got bronze
medals.
In National Women’s Road Championship, Army got the first position
with 137 points, Wapda secured the second position with 50 points,
whereas Punjab remained at third position with 30 points.
In 28-km Individual Time Trial Women, Sabiha of Army secured gold, Rajia of SSGC got silver and Razia of Army won bronze medals.
In 28-km Criterium Race for Women, Sabiha, Nida and Bakhtawar
of Army won gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively.
In 42-km Team Time Trial Women, Army won gold, Wapda got silver
and Punjab got bronze medals.
In 56-km Road Race for Women, Sabiha and Razia of Army won gold
and silver whereas Rajia of SSGC got silver medal.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Director General Sports Junaid Khan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, who gave away trophies and medals to the winning teams.
The participating teams were Wapda, Army, SSGC, Balochistan,
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad.
