Umar Amin shines in Rawalpindi’s win over Islamabad

RAWALPINDI, Sept 2 (APP): Umar Amin shone with the bat to guide Rawalpindi to a five -wicket win over Islamabad in a Cool and Cool Presents Jazz National T20 Cup here at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Thursday night.

The 26-year-old scored brisk unbeaten 76 off 50 balls, hitting five boundaries and four sixes. The other main contribution for Rawalpindi came from opener Mukhtar Ahmed, who  made 40 runs off 27 balls with the help of six fours and one six. The other opener Awais Zia fell cheaply as handed over his catch to Ali Sarfraz on the bowling of slow left-arm orthodox Muhammad Irfan. One-down batsman Asif Ali was also bowled on duck by slow left-arm bowler Mohammad Irfan. Middle-order batsmen Zahid Mansoor also went back early, scoring just one run. However late middle order batsman Hammad Azam scored solid 34 runs off 25 balls, before his catch was taken on the last ball of 18th over on the bowling Irfan.

Rawalpindi’s Irfan took three wickets for 35 runs in his four overs, while one wicket each was picked up by Abdur Rehman and Shahid Afridi.

Earlier, putting to bat first after losing the toss, Islamabad put a reasonable total of 174 on the board with main contributions coming from opener Imam-ul-Haq and middle order batsman Adil Amin, who scored 54 and 44 runs off 45 and 32 balls, respectively.

Rawalpindi’s Zulfiqar Babar grabbed two wickets, while one wicket each was taken by Sohail Tanvir and Yasir Arafat. Umar Amin was given man-of-the-match award for his superb knock.
