Training camps for Asian Games preparations from June 20

ISLAMABAD, June 6 (APP):Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Wednesday announced to hold the second phase of training camps for preparation of the 2018 Asian Games from June 20 at different venues across the country.
A joint meeting of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), National Sports Federations (NSFs), Ministry of IPC (Sports Wing) and PSB was held on Wednesday here at the board to finalize the modalities of preparation and participation of Pakistan sports contingent in the Asian Games to be held from August 18 to September 2 at Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. The meeting was chaired by Arif Ibrahim, Director General, PSB, said a press release issued here.
In the meeting, the National Sports Federations were advised to submit names of camp trainees, camp officials and names of events by June 18 for holding the national training camps.
It was also decided to acquire services of Dutch Hockey coach, Sailing Laser Class Coach, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Coach. The concerned NSFs were also advised to submit their sports equipment requirements so that equipment can be purchased.
PSB DG said PSB has already asked NSFs to submit their budget requirement for the financial year 2018-19. “The Federations are required to indicate their training-cum-competition tours for effective preparation before the Asian Games so that sufficient funds could be allocated,” he said.
Another meeting will be held on June 13 at Lahore in order to finalize the Pakistan Sports contingent for the Asian Games. The concerned NSFs will apprise the POA, PSB about the selected participants (national record of the event and discipline, last South Asian Games record and last Asian Games record) and medal prospects in the event.
The DG PSB assured the House that all teams and sportspersons must be selected on merit. The meeting was attended by representatives of Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Boxing, Cycling, Equestrian, Golf, Handball, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kabaddi, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, Tenpin Bowling, Mansoor Ahmed Khan, DDG (Admn), Muhammad Azam Dar, DDG (Tech) and Raja Ghazanfar Javed, DDG (Finance), PSB.
