ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (APP): Former captain, Muhammad Yousuf felt Pakistan team needs an established coach like the late Bob Woolmer as things are not improving under present head coach Waqar Younis.

Yousuf said the performances of the players and team will only improve under a foreign coach and support staff. “If the present scenario continues Pakistan will go further down in the Rankings because next year you have to go to England and Australia for full series,” hindustantimes.com quoted Yousuf as saying.

However, Yousuf said that foreign coaches like Dav Whatmore or Geoff Lawson who were reluctant to take tough decisions should not be entertained again. “We need an established coach someone like the late Bob Woolmer  who did a lot to improve our overall cricket mindset and team,” he said adding I can’t see things improving under present head coach Waqar.

He said we all have a lot of respect and admiration for Waqar as a player but as a coach he has failed to deliver not once but twice.

Speaking about the youngsters, the former captain said you don’t debut 12 to 13 players in all three formats in just eight months despite having senior players who just need to be given more confidence and backing by the team management and selectors.
