KHANEWAL, Jul 22 (APP): President of the District Table Tennis Association, Amber Bashir Ahmad, has complained of violent elements harassing and intimidating sports officials and players and urged the administration to ban their entry to the sports stadium.
In a statement on Tuesday, he demanded immediate action from district authorities to prevent such unwanted acts before these could escalate into a bigger trouble. Detailing a previous episode, sources said, a fourth-grade government employee was beaten up within the stadium premises, prompting the registration of an FIR.
The President DTTA Khanewal said, students and athletes must feel secure at the stadium.
“These anti-social elements, emboldened by their unchecked access, have now started targeting players.”
In the latest incident, a table tennis player was beaten up and an FIR was lodged at City police station.
Amber Bashir urged the administration to initiate a thorough inquiry into the incidents to be followed by stricter action. He said the issue he had been raising for the last six months needed immediate attention of the administration.
