FAISALABAD, Nov 20 (APP):The National Women’s One-Day Tournament continued on Thursday with dominant victories for Stars and Strikers, who defeated Invincibles and Conquerors respectively in two action-packed matches played in Faisalabad.
At the HPC Ground, Invincibles won the toss and opted to bowl first, allowing Stars to post a competitive total of 214 runs. Sidra Ameen top-scored with a solid 49, while Syeda Aroob Shah added an important 40 runs.
For Invincibles, Momina Riasat delivered an outstanding bowling spell, claiming five wickets.
In reply, Invincibles could manage only 144 runs, despite a fighting 63-run knock by Natalia Parvaiz.
Stars’ bowling attack proved too strong, with Diana Baig picking up three wickets, Syeda Aroob Shah and Anam Amin taking two each.
Aroob’s impressive all-round performance earned her “Player of the Match” award as Stars sealed a 70-run victory.
In the second match held at Iqbal Stadium, Conquerors elected to bat first and set a target of 221 after scoring 220 runs before being bowled out. Fatima Sana struck an impressive 58, while Gull Feroza contributed 48 runs.
Strikers responded confidently, reaching 221 for 7 to clinch a three-wicket win.
The chase was anchored by a brilliant 97-run knock from Aliya Riaz, supported by Noreen Yaqoob’s 46, with the pair putting together a match-winning 147-run partnership.
Humna Bilal claimed three wickets for Strikers, whereas Aliya Riaz was named “Player of the Match” for her decisive performance.
