Special Advisor to PM lauds Punjab sports ministry’s performance

LAHORE, Jan 07 (APP): Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar said Punjab Sports Ministry under the leadership of Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti has done excellent job during the last three years for the promotion of sports culture in the province.

He said this while addressing a press conference in connection with Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive 42nd National Kabaddi Championship (Circle Style) 2022 here at National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti, Secretary Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF), Director Sports HEC Javed Memon and other high officials were also present on this occasion.

Appreciating Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and his team, Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar said that the holding of several top sports events and establishment of valuable sports infrastructure across the province showed that there is no comparison between previous governments and present govt as far as performance is concerned.

“In this regard we are ready to have a debate with anyone to prove that Punjab Sports and Youth Affairs Department and Sports Board Punjab under the leadership of Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan have done marvelous performance for the welfare of sports stars and growth of sports in all parts of the province exactly in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan”.

Seconding Usman Dar’s point, Punjab Minister for Sports said that there were around 300 sports grounds in the province during the last 70 years but now the tally of sports venues has reached to 600 in a period of only three years.

“After National Kabaddi Championship we are going to organise mega event of 73rd Punjab Games at different sports venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex from January 24 to 27, 2022 to promote sports culture in the province”.

He said the 73rd edition of Punjab Games will provide an platform platform to the talented male and female players of the province and we are quite upbeat to find several potential athletes after the completion of these games.

“Our government also organized the historic kabaddi World Cup two years ago where Pakistan emerged as World Champions. We have planned to organize different mega sports events in the near future with the collaboration of various sports federations and associations,” he elaborated.

Usman Dar further said that it is the first occasion in the history of the country that centre and province are working jointly for the promotion of sports in the province. “We are going to organize sports across the country under the banner of Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive. The upcoming Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive 42nd National Kabaddi Championship (Circle Style) 2022 is also part of this campaign”.

He further informed that 42nd National Kabaddi Championship will be organized at Punjab Stadium from January 10 to 16, 2022 with the collaboration of HEC and UVAS. “Country’s top 16 teams are participating in this grand championship,” he informed.
