ISLAMABAD, Oct 17 (APP): Minister of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Raiz Hussain Pirzada on Monday said he has requested the Prime Minister to provide incentives to players for their performance.
Speaking at the inauguration of the National Junior training camp here at the Snooker Hall of the Pakistan Sports Complex, he welcomed the Iranian coach Sohail Wahid who will be imparting training to the snooker players.
“Pakistan needs great help in sports and our players should bring laurels and medals to the country,” he said.
Responding to a question, the minister said soon cash prizes would be given to the snooker players. “The budget of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will also be increased,” he said.
The minister also directed PSB to ensure best facilities to the snooker coach and players.
The minister also opened the camp by hitting the 15 red-ball frame.
On the occasion, PBSF President Alamgir Shaikh said the
Iranian coach was being paid $2,000 per visit. In the first phase of the camp, he would train the players for 16-17 days. “His next visit will be in January next year,” he said.
He said he had high hopes from junior players as they had an opportunity of being groomed at the camp. He also praised the PSB for providing assistance to the players.
He said he wanted to host a tournament is Faisalabad and Islamabad.
The Iranian coach said he would try his best to train Pakistani
players.
It may be mentioned that top national Under18 and Under21 players are participating in the training camp. Naveed Kapadia is the coordinator of the camp.
