Sindh government committed to promoting cultural sports: District Sports Officer Sanghar

SANGHAR, Feb 25 (APP): Malh Pehlwans and athletes associated with indigenous sports are considered a valuable asset to society. Ensuring their welfare, encouragement, and addressing their challenges remains a top priority for the Sports Department. These remarks were made by District Sports Officer Sanghar, Kainat Qamar, during a ceremony held to distribute financial aid checks among local Malh Pehlwans.
Speaking at the event, she highlighted that the department has taken significant measures to support athletes involved in traditional sports. Under the Endowment Fund, financial aid checks were distributed to four Malh Pehlwans in the district.
She noted that these Malh Pehlwans had been suffering from long-term illnesses and faced difficulties in covering their medical expenses. In recognition of their contributions to the sport and their role in promoting Malakhra and other traditional forms, the Sports Department provided financial assistance to help them access proper medical care and ensure timely recovery.
Kainat Qamar further emphasized that the Sindh Government remains committed to the promotion, preservation, and increasing popularity of cultural and traditional sports among the youth. Such initiatives not only support athletes’ welfare but also help preserve the province’s historical and cultural heritage.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the speedy and full recovery of the ailing Malh Pehlwans.
