Seeded players move in Int’l Jr Tennis C’ships boys’ singles quarterfinals

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):All seeded players in the Boys’ Singles category advanced into the quarterfinals of the ongoing ITF Pakistan International J-30 Junior Tennis Championships 2025, here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
Top seed Mikaeel Ali Baig (PAK) cruised into the quarterfinals with a commanding win over Jun Woo Ye (KOR) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, displaying excellent form and control.
Meanwhile, second seed Timur Gordeev (RUS) faced a tough challenge from Pakistan’s promising young talent Nabeel Qayum. In a well-contested three-set battle, Gordeev came from behind to secure his spot in the quarterfinals with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The most thrilling match of the day featured a fierce encounter between two local players, Abdul Basit and Zohaib Afzal Malik. Abdul Basit, a wild card entrant and rising star from Pakistan, displayed remarkable resilience and determination to edge out Zohaib in a nail-biting three-set match: 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(5). His performance earned enthusiastic applause from the crowd and solidified his reputation as a player to watch.
Salim Saifullah Khan, former President and current Patron of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), visited the PTF Complex where he witnessed several ongoing matches. He was accompanied by Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, the current President of the PTF.
During the visit, both dignitaries exchanged views on various key issues and discussed strategies to better coordinate ongoing and future initiatives aimed at the development of tennis in Pakistan. They emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving long-term goals for the sport.
Qureshi expressed his gratitude to Saifullah Khan for his continued support and encouragement, particularly his efforts to inspire and motivate the younger generation of players. His visit served as a source of inspiration and helped to instill a renewed spirit of unity within the tennis community.
The tournament continues to bring exciting tennis action as the young athletes compete for international ranking points and valuable experience.

In Boys Doubles: Aasim Muhammad Hazia (PAK), Muhammad Yahya (PAK) beat Liang Yupei (CHN), Samritvanitcha, Theerapat (THA) 6-2 4-6 10-3, Fernando Ganuka (SRI), Mayooran Kubherance (SRI) beat Zoiab Afzal Malik (PAK), Hamza Roman (PAK) 4-6 6-2 10-5, Pisutharnonth, Chanapat (THA), Sienghen Panawat (THA) beat Abdul Basit (PAK), Asad Zaman (PAK) 6-7(4) 6-3 10-8, Alexeyev Marsel (KAZ), Mazari Amir Muhammad Khan (PAK) w/o Ali Abdaar (PAK), Razik Sultan (PAK), Nabeel Ali Qayum (PAK), Ye Jun Woo (KOR) beat Rizwan Muhammad Hussain (PAK), Muhammad Hassan Usmani (PAK) 7-5 5-7 13-11.

In 2d Round: Varvara Rubtsova (RUS) got a walk over against Zunaisha Noor (PAK), Soha Ali (PAK beat Yewon Lee (KOR) 6-0 6-0, Zihan Feng (CHN) beat Zara Khan 6-0 6-0, DAVAHASDIN NA AYUTHAYA Praewa (THA) beat Amna Ali Qayum (PAK) 6-3 6-1.
