Quaid-a-Azam golf tees off

LAHORE, Feb 08 (APP):In an ideal weather and perfect playing conditions, the Quaid-e-Azam Amateur Golf Championship will be
contested at the historic Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course here from Friday.
This was said by Shaukat Javed, convenor Golf, in a press conference attended and addressed by Atif Riaz Sikka, Director Brighto Paints, Fareed Mukhtar of Jubilee Insurance, Maj Ghulam Murtaza of Pak Arab Developers, Rao Omar Hashim Khan, Group Director, Trans Media Advertising, Amer Mehmood, Captain Golf and Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed, Director Media.
Shaukat Javed said that this is a championship for the amateurs, senior golfers, veteran golfers and ladies.
Shaukat Javed also shared that a huge number of participants from Lahore are competing and also competing are leading golf players from other golf centres of the country.
Notable amongst the amateurs participating in this championship are Afzaal Ahmed, (Margalla) Tariq Mahmood (Margalla), Ralfie Aslam Raja (Rawalpindi) Khalid Mehmood (Rawalpindi) Raja Muhammad
Israr (Garden City) Mohammad Rehman (Royal Palm) Zunair Aleem Khan (Raya) Fakhar Imam (Raya) Murad A Khan, (Raya) Mohammad Ali, Lahore Garrison, Ayaz Saleem, Lahore Garrison, Salman Jehangir, (Gymkhana) Wazir Ali, (Gymkhana) Ahmed Zafar Hayat (Gymkhana) Sardar Murad Khan (Gymkhana) Mohsen Zafar (Gymkhana), Robin Bagh, (Gymkhana), Waleed Zubair, (Gymkhana) and a very young one falling in the age bracket 14 years, Mikyel Majid. Hussain Hamid of Royal Palm is the defending champion.
Captain Golf Amer Mehmood stated that Lahore Gymkhana is an eighteen holes course and a par of 72. Other significant features are, Excellent tees, immaculate fairways and true and fast greens, Good Fairways, 55 bunkers, six water hazards and out of bounds on eight holes add to the challenge and test of the champion’s ability.
