ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP): The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Board has appreciated the performance of its Director General, Muhammad Yasir Pirzada, particularly for his efforts that led to Pakistan’s removal from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Compliance Watchlist, during its 35th meeting chaired by President PSB Rana Sana Ullah Khan.

Board members reviewed a range of governance and compliance matters, including Pakistan’s recent exit from the WADA watchlist. Officials briefed the meeting that Pakistan had been placed on the list in September 2024 over concerns about the absence of an independent national anti-doping structure.

After assuming office, the DG PSB coordinated closely with WADA, addressed gaps in the Code Compliance Questionnaire and supported reforms that led to the establishment of an independent Pakistan Anti-Doping Board (PADB). WADA subsequently removed Pakistan from the watchlist in September 2025.

The Board also took note of progress in the implementation of the National Sports Policy. Officials said that, for the first time, PSB had ensured compliance with the two-tenure rule, leading to the stepping down of office-bearers of six national sports federations who had completed their permissible terms. Members described this as a significant development in sports governance and institutional reform.

In addition, the Board approved the PSB Annual Report for 2024–25, the first formal annual report presented in nearly two decades. Members said the revival of this practice strengthened transparency, documentation and institutional accountability within PSB.

The Board observed that these measures formed part of broader efforts to improve governance standards and enhance Pakistan’s engagement with international sports bodies.
