Govt to extend cooperation for promotion of baseball: Pirzada

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (APP): Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Sunday invited the Indian members of the Parliament (MPs) to play cricket and rugby matches with their Pakistani counterparts.
Speaking on the occasion of the match of the Fourth Service Rugby
League played here at the Pakistan Sports Complex, he said the Indian
Prime Minister was in a mood of war. “But, you should forget war and
play cricket and rugby with our parliamentarians,” he said.
Pirzada also offered the Islamabad Rugby Association to invite foreign teams here and the Ministry and Pakistan Sports Board would support them. There was a lot of talent in Pakistan and the government would support the association by all means, he added.
He asked the politicians to stop ‘seasonal politics’ and intead play sports. In case of cricket, Imran Khan would be the captain, but in politics Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would be captain, he added.
Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that Quaid e Azam International Games would be held in Islamabad in March next year.
He said it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan that the Ministry of Inter provincial Coordination organized Quaid e Azam International Games in April this year at Pakistan Sports Complex.
The minister said he would meet provincial chief ministers regarding holding of Quaid e Azam International Games.
He noted that terrorism inflicted harm to the sports but the present government took steps for the restoration of sports in the country.
He also appreciated the role of media for positive reporting and in promoting sports in the country.
The minister also congratulated Pakistan Rugby Union for organizing a rugby match, saying that innovation could be introduced in rugby by organizing matches on sand to prevent players from any injury.
He also urged the masses to come to playgrounds to encourage national players.
Islamabad Jins beat Pakistan Army 11 0 in the rugby match.
